West Monroe may invite you to either a virtual or an in-person interview. We answer some of your most common questions for each.
Q: What software do you use for virtual interviews?
A: Interviews will be held via Zoom or Teams, which are web-based applications that do not require you to download any software in advance.
Q: What equipment do I need?
A: You will need a device that connects to the internet—such as a laptop, desktop computer, tablet, or smartphone. Please let your recruiter know if you do not have any of these resources!
Q: How should I prepare for my video interview?
A: We recommend logging in 10 minutes early to test your internet, video, and sound. Make sure you are in a space with decent lighting, minimal noise disruption, and a strong internet connection. We also recommend turning off distracting applications like email and messaging apps so you can focus on your interview.
Q: How should I dress for my virtual interview?
A: We recommend dressing the same as you would for an office interview—we recommend candidates dress business professional.
Q: I am interviewing with four people consecutively. Will I get four different Zoom or Teams links?
A: No, you will get one link to a continuous “Zoom or Teams room.” Your interviewers will cycle in and out for their sections, but you will stay on the entire time. Review the interview schedule ahead of time so you know how long each section will last.
Q: What happens if I am unable to connect to Zoom or Teams?
A: Please let your recruiter know ASAP and they will help you troubleshoot. If you are unable to successfully connect after a few minutes, we’ll call you at the number on your resume. And don’t stress—it happens to all of us!
Q: What happens if my interviewer or recruiter is having technical difficulties?
A: Sit tight and wait for your recruiter or interviewer to contact you. We’re on it!
Q: What if I need to take a break during my interview loop?
A: If you need a break during your interview loop—whether to use the bathroom, get a beverage, or handle childcare needs—please just let us know and we’ll be happy to accommodate.
Q: I have more questions! Who should I reach out to?
A: Reach out directly to your recruiter. If you have misplaced their contact information or need to get in touch right away, you can also reach out to recruiting@westmonroe.com.
Q: What should I wear?
A: This is an opportunity for you to put your best foot forward. We typically recommend that people dress business professional.
Q: Do I need to bring anything?
A: We recommend you bring a writing utensil and notepad for taking notes—this is particularly helpful during a case interview. Otherwise, coffee, water, La Croix, snacks, copies of your resume—we’ve got you covered! If you’re traveling from out of town and need to bring your luggage with you, no worries—we’re happy to store it for you.
Q: Do I book my own travel for my interview?
A: No, we’ll get that all taken care of for you! We will reach out to book any necessary flights and hotels. Should anything unlikely occur, we can also assist with any travel hiccups.
Q: How do I get reimbursed for travel expenses?
A: Your coordinator will reach out to about how to submit expenses through Chrome River. If you still have questions, please reach out directly to your recruiter. Campus candidates will receive a travel stipend if traveling from out of town for the office interviews.
Q: I’m a new mom. Do you have a mother’s room?
A: Congratulations! Most of our offices have a dedicated wellness room that you are welcome to use during your visit. For offices that don’t have a wellness room, we can reserve a private room for your use. In any case, please let your recruiter know and they will make sure the space is ready for you.
Q: How do I get to the office?
A: You can find addresses for each office here. When you are invited to an in-person interview, we’ll provide any additional information you need, like how to access our suite.
Q: What should I expect after my interview?
A: Your recruiter will reach out to you after your interview with an update on next steps after debriefing with the interview team. We will be happy to address any questions you have during the process as well.
