Career progression can take many forms at West Monroe. For Madeline, that meant starting as a campus hire and eventually moving to a manager role
I’m Madeline Verbeten, a manager on the Mergers & Acquisitions team at West Monroe. I joined West Monroe in 2016 as a campus hire after graduating from University of Minnesota. I went through the campus recruiting process my senior year of college and was so impressed with the West Monroe team members I met. I had initially considered pursuing a career in public accounting but decided on consulting because of the variety of projects, industries, and clients that I’d be exposed to early in my career.
West Monroe felt like a place where I could continue to grow both personally and professionally. Five years later, that still rings true! I knew West Monroe would be a great fit.
You might be wondering: What do we do in M&A? I work with private equity clients who invest in the high-tech & software space. We help them with every stage of the deal, from evaluating companies they might invest in—all the way through the end of their investment. We help them shore up technology opportunities, improve their operations, and ensure that integration is going smoothly.
I love understanding what challenges my clients face, what they’re trying to accomplish, and working alongside them as a true partner. West Monroe is committed to delivering the best client service and I’ve learned so much along the way.
Leaders and managers at West Monroe are very supportive of their people. One of our core values is investing in the next generation of leaders. I’ve been promoted multiple times, grown as a leader, and owned my career. I joined West Monroe as a consultant and have since been promoted to experienced consultant, then senior consultant, and finally to my current role as manager.
In addition to client work, what I love about my role are the cultural initiatives that I get to take part in. For example, I’m involved with our Women in M&A initiative. Our goal is to increase the number of women on our team, connect with other women in the industry, elevate our exposure, and promote leadership opportunities. We have the full support and investment from our leaders.
In just a few years, I went from a college student in Minneapolis to a manager working with some of the country’s most innovative companies. West Monroe is a great place to launch a career for those who want a challenge and want to make an impact—all within a supportive environment.
