It takes an architect mindset to align IT with business strategies, model the transformation, map a pragmatic path forward, and then guide cross-functional operations through change. That’s where Dan stands out. He helped a Fortune 50 health plan reduce annual IT operating expenses by $70 million through a complex, multi-year innovation strategy and architecture comprised of 70+ initiatives – facilitating C-suite and board approvals for the strategy and investment along the way. He also helped a large national payer consolidate and modernize their commercial administrative processing platform, unlocking significant Selling, General & Administration savings while reducing IT spend.

That’s the type of impact he’s had time and time again – while developing distinctive functional and IT expertise across the healthcare and life sciences sector. Dan’s expertise in driving complex modernization and digital transformation across numerous payers, provider systems, pharma, biotech, and medical device enterprises, makes him a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders.

Before joining West Monroe in 2023, Dan was a senior director and lead architect with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he helped establish and led the architecture organization and advised hospital, research, and technology leaders on strategic initiatives focused on growth, cost reduction, and business agility. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington.

What makes Dan different

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Dan once completed the four-day Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu. An avid international traveler, he counts Buenos Aires, Edinburgh, Madrid, and Kyoto among his favorite cities to visit. Closer to home, he may be busy mastering sourdough baking, enjoying New York City’s diversity and convenient access to cultural spaces, or exploring destinations upstate.

Where Dan makes an impact

Technology innovation and architecture agility is critical to today’s healthcare and life sciences enterprises. Dan enjoys – and excels at – building enterprise capabilities for enabling that. In previous roles, he grew a medical center’s new architecture organization to 20 professionals. And for an international consultancy, he formed a global healthcare architecture team of 120 practitioners focused on increasing consistency and quality.
