For 25 years, Matt has had a front-row seat to the energy and utilities industry’s rapid technological advancement, policy changes, and growing focus on reducing greenhouse gases. With this backdrop of experience, he is motivated to help clients navigate technology innovation and accelerate adoption of clean energy solutions that decarbonize our economy. For example, he has worked with many utilities to develop electric vehicle programs that drive internal operational efficiencies and increase customer acquisition rates.
Matt’s industry experience encompasses AMI/smart metering solutions and benefits for electric, gas, and water utilities. He also brings expertise in distributed energy resources, grid analytics, and business strategy.
Matt previously worked at Stem, where he led utility business development for distributed battery energy storage and solar solutions, and Itron, where he led product marketing and management for smart grid and AMI solutions. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of California – Davis and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at University of California – Berkeley.
Matt enjoys mountain biking and hiking – especially on the great trails right outside his doorstep in Northern California. His family, which includes four teenage children, loves to travel. Their favorite destinations include Lake Tahoe, Mexico, and Europe, particularly Spain and Italy.
Matt is a natural mentor to team members. He recognizes that getting to the bottom line is not always a straight line, and that treating people right while focusing on the goal is the way home.
Outside of work, he is an assistant scoutmaster with Boy Scouts of America.
