With experience across industries and in all types of transactions, Rainer is ready to tackle the complexities of any merger, acquisition, divestiture, or carve-out—all with a focus on creating value through technology and operations. He supported the sell side of a $3.5 billion insurance technology transaction, the privatization of a $4 billion airline, and the carve-out and merger of two regional retail banks.
He has led more than 75 due diligence projects, with a particular focus on software and high-tech, tech-enabled business services, and consumer and industrial products organizations. He also works with clients to develop post-transaction operating model, cost-optimization, digital/technology strategy, and value-creation strategies.
Prior to joining West Monroe, he was a consultant in the Digital, Technology, and Operations Analytics practice of Oliver Wyman. He also spent three years in IBM’s Business Strategy & Transformation practice. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
He spent 15 years abroad in France and Canada and always looks forward to returning. But he also finds plenty to appreciate close to home, including off-leash dog hour at Fort Greene Park, beautiful Brooklyn brownstone homes, and various breweries around and outside of New York City. He enjoys learning new do-it-yourself skills and spent most of 2020 rebuilding a cabin in upstate New York. He recently completed his first – and last – Iron Man competition.
He brings enthusiasm and a passion for learning the intricacies of new business models and industries. He also enjoys identifying opportunities to scale businesses with software and tech-enabled processes and workflows.
