West Monroe Partners, a North American business and technology consultancy, announced Dan Belmont, director of West Monroe’s Energy & Utilities Telecommunications practice, has been named to the Utilities Telecom Council’s (UTC) Smart Network’s Council (SNC) 2012-2013 Board of Directors. A total of thirteen industry experts were selected to join the board after recent elections.
“Telecommunications in the utility industry is undergoing significant change with the proliferation of grid modernization initiatives. I have been actively involved with the UTC over the last five years and am now excited to share my knowledge and experiences with the Smart Networks Council and its members. It’s an honor to be selected, and I look forward to contributing in this additional capacity,” said Belmont.
Belmont was awarded the position after being nominated and then ultimately chosen based on final ballot votes that were sent to all participating utility and non-utility members.
The SNC is an independent operating unit dedicated towards connecting utilities and vendor partners to frame a vision and plan for the modern networked grid. This role allows Dan to share key learnings and best practices from over 20 years in the utility and telecommunications space.
The SNC was founded in 2008. The activities of the group are directed by an industry-elected Board of Directors that are comprised of well-known and highly-involved leaders of the utility telecom sector. Since 1948, UTC has served as the source and resource for information and communications technology (ICT) solutions, collaboration and advocacy for utilities and other critical infrastructure industries.
