Jim Bedford, director with West Monroe Partners in Chicago, has been selected as the recipient of a 2014 Distinguished Pharmacy Alumnus Award based on a nomination by Purdue University’s Pharmacy School, Dean’s Office. This tradition dates back to an occasion of Purdue’s Centennial in 1984 when Purdue University’s faculty of the College of Pharmacy implemented a Distinguished Alumni Award program to recognize graduates of their academic programs who have been outstanding in pursuit of their careers in the various aspects of the profession of pharmacy. The award is scheduled to be presented to Bedford on behalf of the College of Pharmacy at a luncheon ceremony on Friday, April 4, 2014 in addition to a dinner for the distinguished alumni and selected faculty.
Additionally, Roosevelt University’s Board of Trustees has unanimously elected Jim Bedford to serve a three-year term December 2013 through December 2016. The Roosevelt Board of Trustees has the ultimate responsibility for the governance and oversight of the affairs of Roosevelt University, and plays a key role in advancing the University’s mission – academically, financially, and in the community. Bedford will play a vital role healthcare and pharmacy oversight as well as the broader strategic and academic priorities.

Jim leads West Monroe Partners’ Pharmaceuticals and Medical Device practice with more than 30 years of industry and consulting experience in the life sciences sector. Jim is a nationally recognized speaker on analytics and M&A topics, a frequent university lecturer and a regular contributor to pharmaceutical and executive journals. He has held executive positions with Baxter Healthcare, Caremark International and BearingPoint consulting. At West Monroe, Jim oversees operations improvement and merger and acquisition projects for Life Science clients.
