West Monroe Partners, a progressive business and technology consulting firm, announced today that it has been named one of Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces 2017. The report ranked West Monroe 2nd among 45 mid-sized companies. West Monroe was one of 125 employers recognized in the annual workplace report, released Nov. 10, a combined effort between the Chicago Tribune and its partner, Energage, that identifies the Chicago area’s best places to work.
“We’re proud to make the Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces list for the eighth year in a row,” said Doug Armstrong, West Monroe’s Senior Managing Director and Chicago office lead. Winners were honored at an awards ceremony at Soldier Field’s United Club on Nov. 9, and The Chicago Tribune published the complete list of Top Workplaces on Nov. 10 in a special edition. A group of 20 West Monroe employees attended the event.
The theme of this year’s awards was “meaningfulness,” and how employees can find meaning in their daily work and careers. “At West Monroe, we not only strive to provide meaningful careers, as many companies do, but have policies and a culture in place to actually drive this. That's why it works for us,” Armstrong said.
Since opening its doors in 2002, West Monroe has grown to almost 1,000 employees nationally, with more than 650 employees based in the Chicago area. It serves more than 100 local clients in financial services, private equity, insurance, energy and utilities, healthcare, and life sciences. The Chicago office continues to grow rapidly, experiencing a 60 percent increase in revenue over the past two years. To meet continued growth projections, the firm plans on doubling its Chicago workforce over the next five years, with about 35 to 40 percent of those jobs in technology fields.
Part of the firm’s purpose is developing professionals that strike this uncommon blend into the next generation of leaders. Through mentorship and learning, West Monroe invests significantly in talent to develop the business skills of technologists, and the technology skills of business professionals.
The firm’s Chicago office is located in The Franklin, at 222 W. Adams St., where it plans an expansion in early 2018 to accommodate growth.
