CHICAGO/DALLAS – West Monroe Partners, a national business and technology consultancy, today announced that it has reorganized its technology consulting resources to create a new development center for technology-driven business initiatives. The firm’s more than 300 technology professionals, covering disciplines such as cybersecurity, digital solutions, cloud computing, application development, and infrastructure, have come together under one practice in response to the market’s growing needs for solving tough business challenges through a technology lens. To support these market needs, West Monroe also announced that it is developing a technology hub within its Dallas office.
West Monroe’s ability to deliver technology expertise with a business mindset has been a driving force behind the firm’s 35% compound annual growth rate. Founded in 2002, West Monroe currently employs more than 1,000 people across 10 offices nationwide. Last year, the firm announced plans to double its workforce by 2022, in large part to address a growing technology skills gap in business. Investing in technology talent has helped the firm make progress on this goal, hiring hundreds nationwide over the last 12 months.
“We have found that mastering the shift in today’s rapidly evolving business environment requires doing several things very well – from tapping into actionable data to building a modern platform and securing the business. Each of these ‘dimensions’ relies on diverse technological competencies, but companies gain the greatest value when they address them in concert rather than as separate initiatives,” said Greg Layok, managing director of technology at West Monroe. “We have made great strides in building teams with world-class talent in essential technology disciplines. Making sure these technologists are part of a consolidated, collaborative development center environment increases their ability to address complex business challenges with speed and innovation.”
While many consultancies provide technology services from remote locations, West Monroe has maintained an onshore approach to building its technology team and locating IT consultants in its offices, where they have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in other disciplines to build technology-enabled business solutions. “An uncommon blend of business consulting acumen and deep technology expertise is at the heart of what differentiates West Monroe in the consulting marketplace,” Layok said. “That blend is possible because our technologists are in our offices, working side-by-side every day with industry and other business specialists.
West Monroe now has established technology leaders and consultants in all its offices. The firm was named the runner-up for Best Tech Work Culture in Chicago at the 2017 Timmy Awards by Tech in Motion. It was also ranked No. 18 on the Top 100 Vertical Market MSPs in 2017.
The firm is now focusing on building another major hub of technology professionals in Dallas, one of its newest and fastest-growing offices. The office plans to triple its workforce over the next five years. “Our region is home to rich technology talent, and we believe that establishing a tech hub here will help us attract and retain top-tier technologists, while also driving our local growth goals,” said Adam Gersting, senior director of technology in Dallas.
In line with its mission to develop the next generation of leaders, West Monroe invests significantly in talent development, including equipping its technology consultants with both IT and business skills. “We encourage our technology professionals to ‘major’ in one area and ‘minor’ in another,” Gersting said. “This is good for us because we are building multi-skilled talent, but it is also good for our people, who are continually learning new and relevant skills.”
West Monroe has dozens of open positions for technologist roles.
