West Monroe Named to Crain’s Annual List of Best Places to Work in New York City.
West Monroe has been recognized as one of the 100 Best Places to Work in New York City by Crain’s. The firm ranked 31st among 100 companies in the large businesses category. This is West Monroe’s sixth consecutive appearance on the list, reflecting the firm’s ‘People First’ focus while experiencing continued rapid growth.
“At West Monroe, investing in our people and our culture is a top priority. While we are honored and celebrate this recognition, we do not take it for granted given the challenging year we’re experiencing,” said Gil Mermelstein, senior managing director and West Monroe’s New York leader.
Even as virtual work has helped us navigate the current crisis and maintain continuity of service to our clients, we continue to focus on nurturing our collaborative culture and commitment to providing highly meaningful careers, especially as we grow.

West Monroe’s New York City office has more than 150 employees and serves clients across the Northeast in key industries, including private equity, banking, energy and utilities, healthcare, and life sciences. The firm plans to relocate to a larger space in December 2020 to accommodate its growth, a move that was delayed from earlier in the year to prioritize the health and safety of employees during COVID-19.
Like all West Monroe places of work, our New York office maintains a highly participatory and collaborative culture marked by an open work environment, frequent employee meetings and gatherings, a strong commitment to serving the local community through its social responsibility program, and regular recognition awards. In July 2020, West Monroe ranked No. 5 on Fortune’s Best Workplaces in New York.
To be eligible for the Crain’s ranking, businesses must employ 25 or more workers within the five boroughs. To assemble the data, Best Companies Group and Crain’s dispatched surveys to more than 20,000 local employees. Each worker answered a confidential survey, covering topics such as working conditions, benefits, and corporate culture. The results were evaluated alongside responses from a separate survey completed by employers. Results from the employee survey made up 75% of the total score; the answers from employers constituted 25%. The companies recognized span a range of industries, including accounting, engineering, finance, law, and technology.
Crain’s recognized the winning companies and unveiled final rankings at a virtual event on December 3.
